DAY 1: Arrival
Welcome at Catania airport. Optional transfer to the
hotel. Dinner and overnight.
DAY 2: Excursion to ETNA & TAORMINA (included)
Breakfast in the hotel and guided excursion to the Mt. Etna, the highest and most active volcano of Europe. The territory surrounding the Vulcan is the “Park of Etna”, one of the largest protected areas in Italy: you will be astonished about the great variety of vegetation and landscapes that we will meet along the way before arriving at the “ Silvesti Craters” (about 1.900 mt). From here on you will have the possibility to continue the excursion by jeep. Stop at a local beekeeper for a honey- and wine tasting. In the afternoon visit of Taormina, situated on a plateau on the slopes of the steeply dropping Monte Tauro, dominating the Ionian coast from Capo Sant’Andrea to Capo Taormina. Possibility to visit the Greek-Roman theatre, the 2nd largest classical theatre in Sicily. Back to the hotel for dinner and overnight.
DAY 3: Excursion to CATANIA AND SYRACUSE (extra) & MALTA (included)
Breakfast in the hotel. Full day excursion. First stop in
Catania, that lies on the slopes of the Etna, rich in baroque buildings; visit
of the typical fish market and walking tour of the city centre. Proceed to Syracuse,
one of the most interesting archaeological sites of the island, in which we
will explore the historic centre in Ortigia Island, the most ancient nucleus of
the city with its stunning cathedral. At this point guests can choose to
leave the group for individual activities or to take part to the optional
guided tour of the
archaeological park of Syracuse (€ 20 per person + € 10 entrance
fee), including the Roman Amphitheatre, the Greek Theatre, the Ear of Dionysus.
After that transfer to Pozzallo
port and departure by ferry to Malta.
You will arrive in Malta in the late evening. Meeting our assistant and
transfer to the hotel. Overnight.
DAY 4: Excursion to 3 CITIES OF MALTA (included)
Discover the Grand Harbor area opposite Valletta known as the Three Cities – Vittoriosa, Cospicua and Senglea, where the Knights of St. John first settled in 1530. Driving past Cospicua we reach Vittoriosa for a walking tour through the narrow streets in the shade of historic buildings, including the first auberges of the various langues of the Order. At the Vittoriosa waterfront we take a typical harbor boat (dghajsa) for a tour of the colorful harbor creeks. From the Senglea Garden, situated at the tip of the peninsula, enjoy a stunning 360* view of the Grand Harbor, including the impressive Fort Sant Angelo from where Grand Master La Valette led the defence of the island during the Great Siege of 1565. Overnight.
DAY 5: Excursion to *** MARSAXLOKK MARKET AND BLUE GROTTO (included)
The idyllic fishing village of Marsaxlokk with its colorful luzzus and unique character make the unrivalled setting for the local market. This is the perfect place to spend a Sunday morning, where you can rub your shoulders with the locals as you browse through the various stalls. We continue our tour with a visit to the Blue Grotto (weather permitting - boat price not included) and the nearby caves. Admire the whole expanse of the blue Mediterranean and the islet of Filfla. Later our guide will help you explore one of Malta’s unspoilt villages. From the main square, the hub of the village with its parish church and band club, you will be led through a maze of winding narrow streets that all have a story to be told. Overnight.
DAY 6: Excursion to BOAT TOUR ISOLA BELLA & GROTTA AZZURRA (extra)
Early transfer to Malta port and departure to Pozzallo. Transfer to Taormina area. Day at your leisure for relax or for an Optional excursion: Boat tour in Isolabella & Grotta azzurra in Taormina Dinner and overnight.
DAY 7: Excursion to PANAREA & STROMBOLI (extra)
Breakfast and transfer to Milazzo. Today you will enjoy
the excursion Panarea & Stromboli. Departure from Taormina is about at
10:00 am. From Milazzo by boat to Panarea. Free time on the island for visiting
the typical village, enjoying the beach and having lunch (optional). Transfer
by boat to Stromboli where you will stop until sunset. A light dinner will be
served on board. Finally visit of the “Sciara del Fuoco” by night for admiring
the volcano’s activity from the sea. Return to Taormina is scheduled around
midnight. Please note that departure time will be modified during the season
depending on sunset time. Dinner and overnight in the hotel.
DAY 8: Departure
Breakfast in the Hotel. Optional transfer to Catania airport. End of our services.
